Gaia's Bellydance history

​

2000 Gaia started her education attending the lessons of "Club Magica", the first Middle Eastern dance & Bellydance school in Milan, with Ada Went, Irene Borg and Silvia Ghedy. With them, she participated at workshops, seminars and several shows at the prestigious "Carcano" theater in Milan.

2005-2006 Graduation in "Humanistic Sciences for Communication" and transfer to Cadiz, in Andalusia, for a year. In the birthplace of flamenco she meets Salma, a great Andalusian bellydancer, and together they found a small dance and music company, the "Kapsun Gabaly", which they go on tour with across the South of Spain and Portugal.

2007. Improvement of her studies in Cairo, Berlin, London, Marseilles and Italy with international master teachers such as Aziza Abdul Ridha, Dr. Mo Geddawi, Miss Fifi Abdu, Madame Dina, Mr. Mo Geddawi, Madame Raqia Hassan, Mr. Yousri Sharif, Mr. Wael Mansur, Mr. Amir Thaleb, Miss Anasma Wuong, Miss Sabah Benziadi, Madame Roxie Rose, Miss Manca Pavli, Miss Munique Neith, Mr. Mohamed Shahin, Mr. Mohamed El Sayed, Miss Sadie Marquiat, Miss Virgina Mendez, Miss Coolena Shakti and Miss Mistri for Indian dance and Bollywood.

2008. Teacher Certification awarded by C.S.E.N. Italy and participation in numerous festivals, including the international festival "Stelle d'Oriente" in Turin (every year from 2008 to 2014). In the same year, she obtains the A.S.I. Certification, a teacher training promoted by Irene Borg. Moreover, she participates at the traditional and contemporary oriental dance stages at the "Aziza" Study Center in Turin. Thanks to her great teacher, who will be her godmother for years, she is introduced into a complete overview of oriental dance. Gaia has also the opportunity to study with national and international teachers, guests of Aziza's academy, including Jillina and Samantha of the American company "Bellydance Superstars".

2010. Beginning of Tribal belly dance's formation at the Milanese academy of "Les Soeurs Tribales", pioneers of tribal and fusion bellydance in Italy. She participates to "Avanti, danziamo!", an experimental dance/theater show in Milan directed by the exceptional Anasma Wuong, world-renowned dancer and founder of the "Theatrical Bellydance" in New York and Paris. Stimulated by this experience, she attends an intensive contemporary dance journey with Maura Morales, a Cuban dancer, in Fuerteventura, Canary Island.

2011. Gaia joins the "Amaya Dance Company" based in Slovenia, whose director is Manca Pavli, Rachel Brice's European assistant. From August to December 2011, she goes on tour with her in Ljubljana, Zagreb, Kiev, Krakow, Trieste and Milan. She currently collaborates with her.

In the same year, she attends the “Vertigo tribal festival” at Moma Studio in Milan. Special guests of the festival are Amy Sigil and her company “Unmata” from Sacramento, in California, and Tjarda Van Steen, founder of “Uzumé” company from Holland. They both increase Gaia's tribal and contemporary horizons.

2012. CS (Collective Souls) Certification Level 1 and Level 2 of the Gipsy Caravan Tribal Bellydance format, with Paulette Rees-Denis, an amazing American dancer, teacher and director of the "Gypsy Caravan Dance Company International". Gaia joins the "Caravan Soul Collective International" company that unites dancers from all over the world certified in Gypsy Caravan from level 2. Finally, she also joins "Les Soeurs Tribales" company. The debut is in Hannover, Germany, at one of the most important bellydance festival, "World of Orient", sharing the stage with the most important dancers of the sector, including Jillina Carlano, Anasma and many others. In May, “Les Soeurs Tribales” are invited to open, as guest stars, the Jillina Carlano's “Bellydance evolution”, a show touring all over the world, in its Milanese date. In June, Gaia founds the company "Kaleidos" with other professional dancers, whom she organizes with every year a show entirely dedicated to ethnic dances. During summer, she participates at an intensive contemporary dance training with Marina Di Maio, a great teacher, dancer and singer, in Fuerteventura, Canary Island. In December, she is invited to Jakarta, Indonesia, with Cinzia, Director of “Les Soeurs Tribales” dance company, in order to teach and participate at the show organized during the "Tribal fest" by Desi Ardi Susanto, Indonesian bellydancer and teacher. Together with Cinzia, she also holds seminars all over Europe, especially in England and Germany but also in Italy, where they spread the tribal verb.

2013. She stages "Colors" with Cinzia di Cioccio, Lydia Colombelli, Mirko Lanfredini and Lazare Ojanda, a fusion show between contemporary and afro dance with live music, in a dialogue between percussionists, dancers and actors. In the same period, Gaia obtains the Certification of Contemporary Urban Fusion with Anasma Wuong and Linda Faoro in an intensive training in Paris, the “ Gate to Fusion”, at their prestigious Atelier in Mont-Martre.

2014. Annual professional training with the internationally renowned dancer Gaia Scuderi, founder of the "Arabic Expressive Dance," perfect synthesis between Middle Eastern bellydance, classical ballet and contemporary dance. At the end of the year, selection and entrance into the new company "Foesia", a structured evolution of the dream shared, and already experimented, with her colleagues Federica Gallo and Sonia Micaro.

2015-2016

She commits to teach and prepare "Maya's dream", the new show of the company Foesia that debuts in July 2015 at the prestigious "Elfo" theater in Milan. Until the end of 2016, the show performs in others cities of Italy. Weekly in the same year, for personal interest and wellness she studies: classical dance with Sefora Castro, contemporary acrobatics with Lydia Colombelli and hip hop with Vittorio Sibilio. For her psychophysical wellbeing she also practices yoga and pilates regularly. In February 2016, she carries out a new project with new talented students, an experimental choreographic workshop for non-professional dancers interested in performances - the "Mandalance dance tribe", which immediately participates in festivals, public and private events.

2017-2018

After many years of collaborations in Milan, Gaia decides to move to Liguria, not far from Genoa, to start a new life in greater contact with nature, with less stressful rhythms and wonderful landscapes for her daily awakening. She starts teaching also there while maintaining monthly seminars in Milan. Gaia's classes gains from different disciplines, considering that dance is a universal language that crosses sounds, places and cultures of all time. It is a powerful tool of expression and with no doubt a language to tell stories, travels, people, times and places of any kind. In December 2018, she will go in Indonesia, Central Java, guest of Herna's “Bodylite gym” to teach and dance during 2 intensive weeks of shared knowledges and fun.

2018-2021

Gaia started her new life between olives and seaside. She keep dancing, teaching and studying holistic disciplines. She collaborate witha Pilates studio, she manages with Sonia Calzavara the "Teaser asd", located in Sori, Genoa, where both teach pilates, pole dance, aerial disciplines, bodyflying, bellydance and selfcare with massage workshops and meeting also during the pandemic moment keeping their clients with online classes. Gaia's grduated in 2020 in international Pilates I and II level and she's now attending an Holistic Operator School in Milan, in order to increase her knowledges and techniques of wellness treatments. 

In 2019 Gaia took part to Latcho Drums project, a live performance in Teatro della Tosse of Genoa with 2 fantastic multimusicians dedicated to gipsy tradition.

In 2021 Gaia is working with Arabesco, a body theater laboratory focused on chorus and action conducted by Clemente Tafuri of Akropolis Theater.

She is always dancing and sharing love and care with her holistic treatments.
